German High-Speed Initiative establishes a further center of competence in Peking


Peking, May 27 2004 - The German High-Speed Initiative, an alliance composed of the companies BWG, Pfleiderer and Siemens, has today opened a center of competence for rail systems in Beijing. The ceremony was conducted in the presence of the German Secretary of State for Transport, Ralf Nagel. The objective of the High-Speed Initiative is to provide know-how in the area of high-speed rail transport for the planned main-line projects in China with the support of German Rail (DB AG) and to serve the Chinese Ministry of Railways as a competent partner and technical consultant. Up to 5 experts will be working in Peking at any particular time, depending on the project in question.

The turnout systems supplier, BWG, with head offices in Butzbach, the track systems provider, Pfleiderer Infrastrukturtechnik, and Siemens TS, Berlin, the rail transportation systems group of Siemens AG, called the German High-Speed Initiative into being in December 2003 as an alliance for the Chinese market. The companies specialize in turnout systems, track solutions and rail systems technology. Also in December 2003, the initiative set up their first joint center of competence in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou with the aim of supporting Guangdong province to develop a modern intercity network.


The German High-Speed Initiative:
The German High-Speed Initiative is ensuring the competitiveness of Chinese rail operators by providing innovative products, systems and services. Innovative strength and many years of experience characterize the concepts comprised in the relevant projects.
