BWG, Pfleiderer and Siemens establish a Center of
Competence in China
|
Berlin, Butzbach, Neumarkt/Germany, Guangzhou/China, April 2004 - Together with its partners the rail engineering division of Siemens Transportation Systems, the turnout-systems supplier BWG and the track-systems supplier Pfleiderer the German High-Speed Initiative is presenting its range of products and services to a wide specialist public for the very first time in China. Innovative solutions for the rail market of the future will be the main focus of the joint presentation during METRO 2004, the 9th International Exhibition on Metro, Light Rail Transit & High-Speed Transit, which will take place in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou from May 26 to May 28, 2004.
The German High-Speed Initiative, started in December 2003, is an interest group formed with the specific objective of marketing German rail technology in China. By pooling and combining the specific expertise of all three companies, the group will be able to offer Chinese rail authorities a competent consultation service and turnkey solutions from a single source. The aim is to promote the establishment and expansion of rail networks in China in order to create a modern high-performance transport infrastructure.
The first center of competence of the German High-Speed Initiative is presently being built in collaboration with the Guangdong Railway Group Corporation Ltd. in Guangzhou the city in which METRO 2004 is to take place. A main aspect of this cooperative undertaking is the construction of a 127 kilometer high-speed route from Guangzhou to Zhuhai as an important city link within Guangdong Province.
Guangdong Province is located in the Pearl River Delta in the south of the People's Republic of China. It is close to Hong Kong and Macao and, with its approximately 80 million inhabitants, is one of the most dynamic economic regions in the whole of China. In the next 10 years, diverse transportation projects for main and mass transit lines with a total length of 600 kilometers are intended to meet the growing mobility needs of a region that is heading in the direction of further growth and prosperity. An example of such projects is the express rail network between Guangzhou, Shenzen and Hong Kong.
On the initiative of the Federal Ministry for Industry and Labor and the German Rail Industry Association, around 20 German companies from the rail-transport and systems sector will be sharing a stand at METRO 2004. The main emphasis of the presentation by the German High-Speed Initiative will be on the know-how and services offered by this interest group for all aspects of the value-adding chain. This includes consulting, planning, production, logistics, installation, commissioning, after-sales service and maintenance. All of these factors are essential components in the creation of modern railway systems that will be able to meet the demand for efficient rail services in the area of freight, mass-transit, main-line and high-speed transport.
